CV colors are an emotional factor as soon as recruiters receive a candidate’s CV. There are quite a few articles and articles on the subject of color psychology. You can get it from a variety of sources on the Internet. So how should we use color in a CV?
I will temporarily divide your CV layout into two parts so that you can easily imagine: the background (the parts and the spaces without words or images, etc.) and the body (including the words expressing, images, characters, etc.)
CV colors in the background
In terms of overall correlation, the color of the background and the content needs to have a clear contrast.
The background is the curtain behind so that the content shows up. When the colors of the two are similar, your CV is very likely to be invisible to the reader. Imagine a CV color background with navy blue and the contents represented in blue. It really challenges the reader’s perspective.
For the background, I advise you to use the lightest and “light” colors possible. Minimize dark colors such as red, orange, dark blue, purple, and black. In addition to the visual element, I share with you a very practical and funny reason to avoid CV color backgrounds with this color scheme.
You probably also know that some businesses will not bring a laptop when they go to an interview to open their CV. The use of electronic devices in the interview room is quite limited to bring a sense of closeness and friendliness between the candidate and the employer.
Instead, businesses will print out their CVs together with the interview minutes and arrange them in sets corresponding to the candidates.
When you choose a CV with a dark background, depending on the technology of the printer, that dark color can turn your CV gray, ink, smeared into parts of the content. While this can be seen as very minor and insignificant, in my personal opinion here is what can adversely affect your probability of finding a job, we need to limit and remove it.
CV colors in the content
The color in the CV of the content, I personally think that there are not too many colors or images to express. Regarding CV colors, if you want to emphasize, you can use about two colors, one color for general content and one color for what you want to emphasize.
But please note that I do not recommend and should not use this. Imagine a CV with black letters with lots of red highlights, which will remind you of the teacher’s comments and corrections in the process of going to school. Very funny, isn’t it?
Personal picture
The images that you can include here can be referenced as personal card photos (of course). Choose a photo with a white background, and be serious. The selection of photos taken during a picnic, “selfie” significantly reduces the seriousness of the CV. It is not to mention that your photography ability is not always really outstanding.
Old company logo
In addition, adding a small logo of companies you have worked for is not a bad choice. Some large companies are famous and have created a good brand and image in the community about their responsibility and contributions, working environment, etc.
A small logo of that company next to the name of the business you have worked with can create a little more attention effect on the employer
