Is the job posting similar to your CV?

job posting

The story of your CV is similar to the job posting for the job you are applying for is an old but never-ending topic of interest.

Going through websites or groups about jobs, company reviews, etc., it is not difficult to find some content such as: Why did I apply for a job but the recruiter did not contact me. Why did I send my resume many times but no one called for an interview. Why do I and my friends go to the same school, I have a better academic ability than him, but he was called for an interview and I didn’t, etc.

Quite a lot of questions that I want to share my views on here today for your understanding more for recruiters. And the story emphasizes that the employer reads what is on your CV to decide whether or not to choose you for the interview.

Whether the business you applied to when reading the job posting has anything similar to the previous business you were working for. This sounds very strange, but it is actually one of the factors that businesses will consider when recruiting you. The size of a business will affect its functions, scale of operations, and governance.

Although businesses are different, if they operate in the same field and have the same total number of employees, they will have many similarities. If the gap between the size of your previous business and the size of the business you are applying for is too big, it can affect your daily work tasks.

From my own experience, the larger the business, the higher the level of specialization and vice versa.

Another point besides business size is corporate culture. If possible, you should learn a little bit about the corporate culture you see in job postings. Some companies, especially large ones, will have a very clear culture.

Those are the points that are recognized over time, and the business actually lives and operates with them. Imagine you’ve always worked at a company with having on-time culture and after that applied for another job that requires you to be ready to work overtime all the time. That is already a significant difference.

The field of operation of the business is also a great influence on recruitment information and recruitment decisions. Of course. You are working for an electronics company and want to apply to another electronics company in a similar position/department. Most likely you already have a chance.

Even the country of the previous companies you worked for is also very interesting. With an increasing number of foreign enterprises, especially manufacturing enterprises, understanding the cultures of different countries is quite important in the working environment.

Besides, the fact that you can use the foreign language of the project investment country is a huge plus. So it’s not surprising that some of you only see job postings and apply to work for Chinese companies, or some only work for European and American companies, etc. It shows the difference in culture and language, working style. Above all, it shows the beliefs in the selection of employers.

Whether your position requires appearance or not is another point I have been shared with other HR friends. And actually, because this information is so sensitive, it’s hard for me to pinpoint the positions that need a good appearance, but I will guide you as a reference.

These are often positions that require a lot of contact with other people. The positions need to interact and work with people mainly. If you want to apply for a position but are not sure if the job requires appearance, see directly what the employees in the position you are looking to apply for. I believe it is one of the best reviews and comments from your side.

In terms of professional knowledge and skills, do you have any similarities and can “encroach” into the position you are applying for? I have mentioned this story a few times and also want to keep repeating it because it is really important.

Especially for positions that require a highly specialized nature (shown in the very long training process or taking a lot of time to get used to and master). Businesses will not be able to recruit you for a position, then train for several years to start doing the job. Only if the labor market in that area is completely empty, no one can take it. So if you want to apply for positions that require high expertise, please understand this aspect.
