How to find a job for you? Looking for a job is a process that most of us have little experience with. I have written quite a few articles related to this topic. However, time and language limitations (when I was studying literature, I was very poor, still poor, and have not improved much). The articles I rewrote are difficult to show you the whole picture.
We don’t have experience looking for work
The reason I say we all don’t have a lot of looking for a job experience is that experience is built on time and mistakes. But stories about finding jobs at businesses are rarely shared.
You don’t know why your interview or application doesn’t go well, that’s often the case. And if you keep making mistakes, you will hardly get the job you want even though your ability is very good.
Each person in his career probably doesn’t work for more than 10 companies. Therefore, if we count the job search experience, we only have … no more than 10 times.
Used to work in human resources, mainly recruiting for businesses from a few hundred to several tens of thousands of people. But one thing I see is that most of the candidates do not really have much experience in job searching.
There are many mistakes we are prone to make
Sometimes the missed opportunities are just for very weird reasons that few ears think possible. Of course, we have absolutely no idea why we weren’t chosen. No recruiter emailed every candidate in detail explaining why they weren’t a good fit. I think so.
Finding a job is a skill and sometimes your ability is good. Your skills are not good, and you still lose many opportunities.
In an exchange with interns after the internship, they shared that they really did not know how to start the job search process, and how to start. Everything is very vague and needs to find the actual sharing. I have also spent time sharing and exchanging with you a lot of information, but it seems that two hours of conversation is not enough.
Therefore, it is also my motivation to write down what I have learned and been guided by many people who have gone before me. Hopefully, these articles will bring something a little more real and in-depth to job seekers about their problems. Or maybe those who have a job but want to have changes and new opportunities in the future. Having one more reference is still better in the job search process.
Because of limited presentation capacity as well as time, and an article that is too long can make readers bored, each of my articles is just a small section, but I try to be as detailed as possible. Most of the time, in the process of working, there is a problem that arises, I record it and convert it into conclusions in the article.
So that if you have a problem, through the search engine on the main website’s homepage, you can find some answers for yourself. (Not sure it will always be true, because I haven’t worked through all types of businesses so my knowledge is limited, just sharing my perspective). And this article I will briefly summarize what I want to convey in the first part – “The story of finding a job” for you to easily imagine.
Because the idea for my blog post came from the interns, the first part almost shared a lot of information and experiences for young people who just graduated. It is also suitable for those who do not have much work experience.
The right time
The first idea I want to share is when is the right time to look for a job. Graduation is considered a very important milestone for students in the job search process. And finding a job before, during, or after graduation is a question many of you may be interested in.
But really that’s just one factor that we should consider because to know when it’s easy to find a successful job, we need to know the needs of businesses and the recruitment season. Why do businesses need human resources at certain times?
Therefore, you also need to form yourself a bit of information or a concept about the recruitment season of businesses to understand the job market information.
Usually, if we find a job at the right time when businesses require human resources, we will have a better chance of having a successful interview. I think so. Because not all businesses hire employees all year round. Job seekers should know a little about this.
But that is not enough, we need to pay attention to how competitive the job market is at different times. And what factors do each of you have that make you stand out to surpass other candidates? That is quite important.
The higher the competition, the lower the chances of finding a job. But if you have a certain point that stands out from other candidates, it’s not that big of a deal anymore. You should review what you have as a competitive advantage.
Internship and Apprenticeship
Well, some quick-witted young people can find a job while they are still doing an internship in their final semester. I also receive a lot of emails asking if the company hires people who are waiting to graduate, do not have a degree, are accepted, or not.
An important factor to consider in assessing whether your studies will affect your current job. And at some large enterprises that organize Management Trainee programs, you should also consult and have the opportunity to participate if you meet the requirements. It really creates more opportunities for you to find a job while still in school.
For students and some who do not have much experience, internship or apprenticeship are two concepts that you should distinguish and care about.
And above all, it is important to understand when is the right time and purpose for an internship or apprenticeship. It is really useful for those of you who do not have much experience in a job. But only if you have clear internship or apprenticeship goals, and try to stick to them. Only then will you be successful.
For those of you who do not have much experience, an apprenticeship is not a bad choice. It can be a stepping stone to becoming an employee in the job search process. But to be selected after the internship or apprenticeship, and successfully find a job right at the company, you need to understand what factors will determine this.
But sometimes some of you do not have to accumulate knowledge and practical experience only through internships and apprenticeships. Many students work part-time jobs while still studying. But choosing a suitable part-time job, and developing skills, not everyone is lucky enough to choose. That is not to mention the appropriate time distribution.
If you are too eager to work a part-time job but fail or re-study, graduate late, etc., it’s not so good, you guys. If you graduate in time and find a job, your income will be many times higher than that of a part-time job. That’s what I personally think. Many school friends do not want to leave their teachers soon, I am not sure if I share it right.
Prepare your CV well
Before looking for a job anywhere you should prepare a good CV. You can refer to the summary article on how to write a detailed CV bit by bit. Those of you who have never worked or have worked but want to revise your CV can refer to it. Some of you told me that there is no website or application to create a CV now. Exactly.
But how important is the information included in the CV?
